Mission to Peru

August 2007

'I went to Peru again this summer to support the work in two Scripture Union camps. The first week was spent in abeautiful place in the jungle - Kimo.

We then travelled to the south of Lima to another site on the coast at Kawai. Here there is a home for 30 street boys, some only eight years old.
Life on the streets is impossible for us to imagine. The boys do not live long and without homes like the ones run by Scripture Union they would have no hope for the future. We helped to build bungalows that can be rented out to provide the funds to keep the home going.

I was also able to spend one day in Lima with the organisation 'Compassion.' They organise sponsorship for the poorest children all over the world. I was shown around one of their centres where they have 200 children from 6 to 16 years old. They are given a meal at lunchtime and then a Christian based education to supplement what they learn at school. I also visited one the families in their home .
I feel very privileged to have had the experience of going back to Peru and seeing again what God is doing there.'
